Build a Village Project: Making a Difference in Malawi
As part of Nu Skin Enterprises' mission to be a force for good in the world, a new initiative has been developed to provide lifelong skills to the people of Malawi, providing them with the tools they need to improve their lives. The Build a Village Project is focused on raising funds for the building of a village in Malawi where individuals live for an extended period of time to learn skills such as agricultural techniques, house construction, fish farming and other beneficiary trades. Funding for this project is filtered through the Nu Skin Force for Good Foundation.
A large fundraising campaign for this effort was initiated during a recent Nu Skin Enterprises convention for North America distributors in Salt Lake City. As part of these fundraising efforts, a special dinner and auction was organized, with 100 percent of the proceeds going to the Build a Village Project. Thanks to the generous guests who attended the event, more than $100,000 was raised for this important cause.
To date, initial construction on the project has begun, with the hopes of having the first residents living in the village by January, 2007. The goal is to continue building upon the village to provide more Malawians with the opportunity to improve their lives and the lives of their posterity.
