DEBRA of Australia & New Zealand
The aim of DEBRA (Dystrophic Epidermolysis Bullosa Research Association) of Australia & New Zealand is to stimulate knowledge of Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) and to raise funds to help EB families. EB is a skin disorder that dramatically alters or takes the lives of young children. In fall 2002, The Nu Skin Force for Good Foundation committed to match Nu Skin Enterprises' distributor and employee donations to DEBRA up to a specified amount. These funds helped defray the costs of a weekend educational retreat for EB patients and their families.
Surf Lifesaving (Australia)
On Feb. 15, 2000, Nu Skin Australia entered into a three-year sponsorship with Surf Lifesaving Australia whose mission statement is "...to provide a safe beach and aquatic environment throughout Australia." In 2001, the Nu Skin Force for Good Foundation contributed funds to financially support an "education officer." Surf Lifesaving Australia is responsible for the overall management, promotion and growth of surf lifesaving practices. It has over 100,000 club members and more than 60 years of tradition and achievements. To keep beaches safe, surf lifesavers patrol beaches from September to April, spending in excess of 48,000 volunteer hours. On average they perform 380 rescues, 6,000 preventative actions and treat 2,200 first aid cases each year. Since recording began in 1938 they have rescued 23,400 lives. The Foundation's donation supported a Surf Lifesaving Safety and Aquatic Education Program committed to the ongoing education of school-aged children via a Surf Lifesaving "Education Officer."
