Second Harvest Japan
Japan and the Nu Skin Force for Good Foundation partnered with Second Harvest, the nation's first food bank, to distribute otherwise wasted food to soup kitchens, orphanages, the elderly, emergency shelters, single mothers, the homeless, migrant workers, and many others. With continuing support from Nu Skin Japan, Second Harvest purchased a new truck in 2008 and now has the capacity to deliver twice as much food.
Kiritapu Wetland Trust
Since 1999, the Nu Skin Force for Good Foundation has been supporting the Kiritappu Wetland Trust. The Trust purchased the wetlands in order to protect the landscape for future generations. It is the third largest wetland in Japan, and Kiritappu is recognized for its beautiful view, natural environment, and academic value.
Kobe Earthquake Disaster Relief
Nu Skin Japan donated funds to the International Red Cross through the Nu Skin Force for Good Foundation to help the victims devastated by the January 17, 1995 earthquake in Kobe, Japan. The donation also included 6,000 hand towels. Nu Skin CEO and President Blake M. Roney said the donation "is our way of reaching out to the people of Kobe in their hour of grief and sorrow. We feel the pain of their suffering and stand by them as friends and neighbors."
The Hunger Project
Five percent of all Nu Skin Enterprises' Japanese Blue Diamond commissions in November 1998 were donated to The Hunger Project (THP), a New York-based organization that helps eliminate hunger by empowering people to achieve lasting, society-wide solutions. In addition, Nu Skin Japan and the Nu Skin Force for Good Foundation combined to create a sizeable donation to the project. The Hunger Project has invested in 12 countries for the training of people, planting trees, building sanitary latrines and running schools, among other things. THP has helped people in India, Bangladesh, Latin America and Africa to achieve breakthroughs in health, education, food production, nutrition, the empowerment of women and improved incomes.
